The joy of crafting

Crochet  – Crocheting is becoming a lost art.  This class will start you off in reviving this art.  Crocheting will provide you with hours of relaxation and enjoyment while making beautiful creations for yourself and gifts for family and friends.  Learn the basic stitches, how to read patterns and understand abbreviations, and select yarn.

Knitting – Knitting is a wonderful relaxing pastime.  This class will get you started on how to make beautiful items for yourself and gifts for family and friends.   You will learn the language of knitting, basic stitches, abbreviations, how to read and interpret patterns, select yarn and much more.  Several projects will be offered in the class with patterns provided by the instructor.

We love fitness at Clovis Community Ed!

Our fitness instructors are the best!  Taking our classes is a great way to maintain a regular fitness routine and meet other people with similar interests.

Zumba  –  Exercise in Disguise! The Zumba program is a Latin-inspired, dance fitness class that combines international music and dance movement variations from Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Reggaeton, and Hip-Hop.  Zumba creates a fun and effective way to feel good about yourself while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Let our instructor help you reach your fitness goals!  LETS JUST DANCE!!

Fit for Life!  –  Men and women can enjoy this physical conditioning class designed to improve one’s mind and body fitness through cardiovascular routines, floor exercise, weight resistance, and stretching—all done to motivational music. Our instructor has been teaching fitness classes for over 30 years in health clubs, physical education college courses, and at Castle Air Force Base.

Dance Exercise  –  Getting fit will be a blast in this low impact dance class.  Instructor, Leah Dickerson will lead you through Swing, Jazz, Ballroom and Latin steps incorporated into fun routines.  No partner needed.  Social dances we know and love mixed with classic and motivating music makes this class more like a party than a chore.  From the Charleston to the Cha Cha let’s work off those pounds together.  Let’s dance!

NEW Karate Class!  This is a beginning level karate class taught by Sensei Quitoriano from Mr. C’s Karate in Clovis. Sensei will help improve and develop your physical strength, endurance, confidence, discipline, respect, and motivation. Both men and women are welcome!

Hula Hoop a Sport?  Yes.  You will be amazed at how much of a work out hula hoop can be!  Do you remember being a kid and just picking up that hula hoop and going for hours while listening to your favorite tunes?  This class is designed with fun in mind!  You will be amazed at how hula hooping strengthens your core and helps with balance.  It is a fun, motivating way to get your daily exercise!

Learn Golf from a Pro.  Learn the fundamentals to the short game, such as: putting, chipping, pitching, and sand. Also, how to hit fairway shots and tame your driver. Class is taught by USGTF Hall of Fame Instructor, Jim Perez, at Bluff Pointe Golf Course and Driving Range. Jim is also on CBS Channel 47 giving a tip of the week every Tuesday morning.

Acquire a Life-Long Love for Tennis.  Discover a great new way to get outside and exercise. Join our tennis instructor in a class devoted to learning the fundamentals involved in the game of tennis. In this six week program, you will learn the form of the many different shots and scoring system to get out on the court and navigate your way through competition. This class will emphasize the fundamentals of form with enjoyable exercise all while having a great time out on the court.

Clovis has amazing walking trails. Most of the trails are paved and provide beautiful scenery like trees and parks. There are many rest stops along the trails. It’s a fantastic, safe way to get outside with other people and get active! You can ride your bike or walk. Map out your trail today for an all-day adventure or just take a morning walk.

If you love sports but haven’t played in awhile you should definitely check out the City of Clovis Recreation Leagues. They have softball, basketball and floorball (it’s like hockey with no ice!) leagues for adults. There are also many beautiful golf courses in the area or if you love tennis check out the Clovis Tennis Club.

Let’s face it, one of the best reasons to live in Clovis is our proximity to the beautiful surrounding foothills and mountains. is a fantastic resource for finding trails for the beginner to the advanced hiker. The San Joaquin River Gorge is considered an easy hike and is an excellent way to get outside and get active!

The great thing about Clovis Community Education classes is that there are other students who want to get active but are not thrilled with the gym environment. Boosts energy – We all need more energy! Regular exercise can increase how you feel on a daily basis. It can give you the energy you need to make it through the day.
Promotes better sleep – Studies have shown that good sleep is essential to good health. Exercise can help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
Social and fun – when you commit to getting active with other people it not only holds you accountable but it holds your exercise partners accountable too. By joining an exercise class, you are not only helping yourself but you are also helping other people!
