13 Career Technical Education – Nursing Office A8 Monday -Thursday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm Call: 559-327-2860 NURSING & HEALTHCARE VOCATIONAL NURSE (VN) PROGRAM Our Vocational Nursing program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to enter the health care profession with confidence. From the Fundamentals of nursing to the principles of mental health and everything in between, students will experience learning styles in lecture courses as well as clinical rotations around the valley Upon completion and licensure, graduates will have the understanding and expertise to enter LVN positions in a medical office, hospital, long term care facility, and other health care settings. Vocational Nurse Class Information ■ 18-month program (16295 hours) ■ 3 days a week (days vary) ■ Program tuition cost $12,000 ■ Additional cost approx $4,000 ▶ Books, uniforms ▶ CAE health requirements ▶ State licensure expenses approx $800 (includes application, test, and state licensure) ■ Must have access to a laptop/computer and reliable internet ■ Financial Aid is available to those who qualify VN students must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs. as well as stand for long periods of time. All VN applicants will interview with the Director of Nursing. Requirements to apply for VN program: ■ Must be 18 years or older ■ Pass the TABE Placement Tests in Reading and Math ■ Active Nurse Assistant Certification ■ Proof of work experience as a CNA with a minimum of 350 hours ■ High school diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited institution ■ Valid government issued photo ID ■ Original Birth Certificate ■ Valid Social Security Card ■ Have a current American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card ■ 2 letters of recommendations (from anyone except family and no older than 18 months) ■ One 2x2 passport photo ■ Complete all pre-requisite courses with a score of 78% or above ■ Submit a Vocational Nurse Application Please Note: ■ Students with felony or misdemeanor convictions may have issues with placements in clinicals and state licensure Upcoming VN classes ■ Jan 2024 ■ Sept 2024 ▶ Visit our website for application open and deadline dates Upon completion of the VN program, CAE students will qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) For more information on the NCLEX, please visit the Board of Vocational Nursing website at wwwbvnptcagov Scan the QR code for VN Application & deadline dates
