15 Academic Education Call 559.327.2856 • Paula Espino, Department Secretary ACADEMIC EDUCATION QUARTER DATES 1st Quarter 8/21/2023 - 10/26/2023 2nd Quarter 10/30/2023 - 1/19/2024 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED CLASSES: ■ You must be at least 18 years old ■ Fill out a registration form in the Academic office. ■ The office staff will schedule an orientation and placement test ■ If you do not show up for your scheduled test, you will not be able to register until the next term. ■ On testing day, bring an official high school transcript from the previous high school you attended. ■ On testing day, bring a government issued photo ID or passport ■ All classes offered free of charge. CLASS TIMES CAE offers morning, afternoon and evening courses to fit any schedule. ADULT BASIC EDUCATION ABE classes provide instruction in reading, writing, and math to prepare students for the high school diploma program, GED, CTE business and nursing education classes Upon completing the course you may receive a letter grade or a Pass/Fail. HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA CLASSES Students may take an individualized program combining traditional instruction, self-directed studies, and online classes. As of January 2016, the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is no longer a requirement for graduation ON-LINE CURRICULUM Clovis Adult Education offers online instruction utilizing the Edgenuity curriculum Edgenuity utilizes standards-based core curriculum and elective courses Students must qualify to take online courses by placement testing at a 7th grade level
