Then it’s time to jump in and learn the basics of floral care and design! In this course, you will learn how to choose fresh flowers, simple care instructions, as well as design styles and techniques. Students will also be able to take their arrangements home each week. For this course, students must provide their own scissors and garden shears. The teacher will provide all other supplies. It is also recommended that students wear closed toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty. There is an $80 materials fee for this class that will cover vases, supplies and fresh floral for both classes. Payment is due to the teacher on the first night of class. CAKE DECORATING II Join us for Cake Decorating II, a six-week journey into moderate to advanced buttercream cake decoration. Ideal for those with some cake decorating experience, this course will help you take your skills to the next level with fun and creative techniques. Learn floral piping, advanced patterns, and intricate borders. Each week, you’ll enjoy hands-on projects and personalized guidance from our instructor in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. By the end, you’ll be able to create stunning cakes with confidence! (Students will be required to bring baked cakes to class.) Our class will focus on imaginative drawing as you uncover your imagination and creativity. Many people say that they cannot draw or they are not creative, however, we all embody these innate traits and with a willingness to embrace them, we can experience uninhibited creative fun. Our instructor will guide you through the process with his collective experience of over 35 years as a professional artist, graphic designer, illustrator, and educator. No class meeting 11/26 POTTERY Do you aspire to be a potter? We will be working either on the potter’s wheel or using hand-build methods to create. These methods will include pinching, coiling, and slab form techniques. Students will create functional and nonfunctional pottery, using stoneware and porcelain clays. The firing will be done using the electric and gas kilns. Glazing will be done twice during the class. The glazing will be completed using the dipping, pouring, and brushing techniques with stoneware glazes. Fred Figueroa taught ceramics in the Clovis Unified School District for forty-two years in the art department at the high school and middle school level, before retiring in 2014. The first night of class a supply list will be distributed, and we will begin creating your wonderful works of art. No class meeting 11/11, 11/25 NEW ARTFUL CARDS Enjoy taking time to create cards with hand-made artwork to give to friends and family. We will be using various media with which to adorn our “artful cards”. Different card project prompts will be inspired by specific art techniques, particular subject matter, or an art style or artwork. We will be drawing, painting, and/or collaging on pre-made blank cards or postcards (usually these are made from watercolor paper or mixed-media paper). Each card “activity” will also be time for you to have fun with the process of making a “mini-artwork” for the day! All experience levels are welcome, including beginners. Students will supply their own materials - a list will be provided. BONSAI: THE FUNDAMENTALS Have you been intrigued by bonsai trees? Have you thought about how much you might enjoy this hobby? This is your opportunity. The purpose of this small class is to provide you the essential knowledge and skills to create and maintain your own bonsai. Through hands-on, images, and demonstrations you will gain the confidence to shape your bonsai. There will be a $30 materials fee to pay for a tree, container, and supplies. CHERRY PIE In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to make a buttery, flaky pie crust and fill it with a scratchmade cherry filling. Each participant will go home with a finished pie and the skills to recreate it anytime. Perfect for bakers of all experience levels! Pre-registration required! Students will be emailed a list of items to bring to class.
