6 Write, illustrate, and publish your very own books! If you love to read and write, you will love this class. Students will learn to make a variety of books to add to their library. Picture books, flip books, and pop-up books are the types of books that will be written, illustrated, and published by students. M/W 10:10am-12:10pm Adanalian Room 7 $199 No matter how you say it, there is nothing that replaces the written word. This class will help in all your academic endeavors and allow you to develop your creativity in a fun and exciting way. Through fun and creative means including literature, pictures and class activities, we’ll discover how putting pen to paper is a valuable tool in helping us express ourselves. Various forms of poetry, stories, letters, and journaling will be explored. We will be creating and sharing through activities, letting our ideas come alive through the power of the pen. M/W 8:00-10:00am Tokatian Room 12 $199 Using popular children’s books you will do various activities through art, music and creative movement. We will explore books like: There was an Old Lady series, Pete the Cat series, Eric Carle Series and many more. T/Th 8:00-10:00am Owens Room 18 $199 Mix some theatre with some reading...what do you get? Fun, creativity, and learning! We will start by choosing a play to act out (you may even write your own). Then we will practice lines, develop scenery, and create costumes using items that are readily available to us in our homes. You will show your plays to each other and of course, we’ll invite parents and families. Have fun while you develop a flair for the theatre and improve your reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. M/W 8:00-10:00am Porter Room 3 $199 Do you want to be a real reporter? Students will learn how to structure a news article, interview, and take pictures. We will even launch a Summer Fun News website. Students will interview and report on actual happenings at Summer Fun. A digital camera or camera phone is encouraged for photojournalism. M/W 10:10am-12:10pm Tokatian Room 12 $199 Are you interested in earth and space? In this class you will learn about the stars and their constellations, movements of the planets and celestial bodies in our solar system, and the speculated age of our galaxy. We will discover earth and its layers, including volcanoes, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, and crystals found in our own local soil and rocks.
