Please refer to our website for the following Polices and Procedures: Grading Policy, Transfer Policy, Student Conduct, Complaint/ Grievance Procedure Clovis Adult Education Refund Policy – Career Technical Education It is the intent of CUSD Clovis Adult Education (CAE) to have a fair and equitable refund policy for the refund of registration fees in the event that the class and/or program is cancelled, or the student does not plan to attend. Refunds, when due, are made within 45 days. The following procedures have been established as part of this policy: • Refund for classes or programs cancelled by CAE: If fees are collected in advance of the start date of the class and/or program, 100 percent of the fees collected will be refunded within 45 days of the planned start date of the class or program cancelled. No written notice by student is required. • Refund for student who withdraws before the first day of class: If fees are collected in advance of the start date of the class and/or program, and the student withdraws prior to the first day of class, the student will receive a full refund less a processing fee of $25.00 per class. The Refund form is generated by the department staff which includes verification of payment. • Refund for student enrolled prior to visiting the institution: Students who have not visited the Clovis Adult Education campus prior to enrollment will have the opportunity to withdraw, without penalty, within three days following attendance at the regularly scheduled orientation or following a tour of the facility and inspection of equipment. • Refund for student who withdraws after class commences: If fees have been collected, and the student withdraws on or before the second day of class, the student will receive a full refund, less a processing fee of $25 per class. • Refund for student whose circumstances fall outside of the above information: If the student feels that they should receive a refund, although their circumstances fall outside of the refund requirements, the student must submit a signed appeal letter to the CAE Principal. The student will receive a determination notice from the CAE Principal within fourteen days of receipt of the appeal letter. ACADEMIC EDUCATION Academic Education Call 559.327.2856 · Crystal Rodriguez, Guidance and Learning Specialist Melissa Holdener, Learning Director · Paula Espino, Department Secretary 9 QUARTER DATES ADULT BASIC EDUCATION ONLINE CURRICULUM HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA CLASSES CLASS TIMES 4th Quarter 4/07/2026 - 6/05/2026 Summer 6/29/2026 - 7/30/2026 REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED CLASSES: ■ You must be at least 18 years old. ■ Fill out a registration form in the Academic office. ■ Upon enrollment, students are required to attend an orientation and take the TABE (placement) tests and CASAS test to determine skill level. ■ Orientations and Placement tests occur on Thursdays. ■ There is no cost to take the placement tests. ■ If you do not show up for your scheduled tests, you will not be able to register until the next term. ■ On testing day, bring an official high school transcript from your previous high school. ■ On testing day, bring a government issued photo I.D. or passport. ■ A counselor is available to meet with you to discuss credits needed and program options. ■ After 40 hours of attendance, students are required to take a CASAS post test to determine academic growth. ABE classes provide instruction in reading, writing, and math to prepare students for the high school diploma program, GED, CTE business and nursing education classes. Upon completing the course you may receive a letter grade or a Pass/Fail. Clovis Adult Education offers online instruction utilizing the Edgenuity platform. Edgenuity utilizes standards-based core curriculum and elective courses. Students must qualify to take online courses by testing at/or above a 7th grade level on the TABE reading and math placement tests. Students may take an individualized program combining traditional instruction, self-directed studies, and online classes. As of January 2016, the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is no longer a requirement for graduation. CAE offers morning, afternoon and evening courses to fit any schedule.

Used under license. The GED® course prepares you for the GED® computer-based exam. The GED exam includes the following four curriculum areas: ■ Reasoning through Language Arts ■ Mathematical Reasoning ■ Science ■ Social Studies You can prepare for one or all of the four GED® exams. This class can be taken on campus or through the Edgenuity online program. Students must qualify to take GED prep classes by testing at/above a 7th grade level on the TABE reading and math placement tests. After successfully passing your practice exams, you will be ready to take the Official GED® state exam. GED Prep courses are offered mornings, evenings, and online. ESL Classes are designed for adults who wish to improve their English language skills. There are morning and evening classes for beginning, intermediate, and advanced learners. The N 400 is explained in detail as students fill out the form in class. U.S. History and Government are integrated into the discussion of the 100 questions (Civics), and in preparation for the reading and writing portions of the test. The teacher prepares a binder for each student to organize important documents to bring to their scheduled meeting with the USCIS. The teacher will also conduct a simulated interview towards the end of the semester. In addition, a visit to the local USCIS office (either in person or virtually) affords students a first hand experience of what to expect when it is time for their test.
