9 NURSING & HEALTHCARE Nursing and Allied Health Department Office A8 · M & W: 7:30am - 7pm · T & Th: 7:30am - 4:30pm · F: 7:30am - 3:30pm · Call 559.327.2860 CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT- BACK OFFICE (CMA) The CMA assists physicians with routine examinations and treatments including: laboratory procedures, vital signs, injections, EKG, urinalysis, vision tests and more. This exciting 27-week (772 hr) program includes a 9-week externship in a local medical facility. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will receive a certificate of completion in Clinical Medical Assisting. The CMA class includes the following: ■■ Medical Ethics, Law and Liability ■■ Medical Terminology ■■ Human Anatomy and Physiology ■■ Clinical Duties and Medical Screening ■■ Diagnostic Testing ■■ Minor Surgery Preparation ■■ Infection Control ■■ Pharmacology ■■ CPR and Emergency First Aid ■■ Study Skills and Computer Literacy CMA Class Information ■■ Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 4:00pm, ■■ Friday- optional remediation available ■■ Program cost $4,500 ■■ Other costs approximately $600 for books, supplies, uniforms and health requirements ■■ Financial Aid is available for those who qualify ■■ Must have access to a laptop computer CMA Requirements: ■■ You must be 18 years or older ■■ Have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution ■■ Pass the Level ATABE Placement Tests with a minimum score of 10.0 ■■ Have a valid government issued I.D. ■■ CAE health requirements completed ■■ Submit a Clinical Medical Assistant Application to the Nursing Department PLEASE NOTE: Students with felony or misdemeanor convictions may have issues with placements in clinicals or externships Upcoming CMA classes ■■ April, 2020 If you have questions, please call Fran Quenga at 559-327-2802 or email at “Be the Difference!” Clovis has a program for you!
