9 NURSING & HEALTHCARE Nursing and Allied Health Department Office A8 · Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm · Friday: 7:30am - 3:30pm · Call 559.327.2860 CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT- BACK OFFICE (CMA) The CMA assists physicians with routine examinations and treatments including: laboratory procedures, vital signs, injections, EKG, urinalysis, vision tests and more. This exciting 27-week (772 hr) program includes 18 weeks in the classroom and concludes with an externship in a local medical facility. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will receive a certificate of completion in Clinical Medical Assisting. The CMA class includes the following: ■ Medical Ethics, Law and Liability ■ Medical Terminology ■ Human Anatomy and Physiology ■ Clinical Duties and Medical Screening ■ Diagnostic Testing ■ Minor Surgery Preparation ■ Infection Control ■ CPR and Emergency First Aid ■ Inhalation Therapy and Drug Administration ■ Pharmacology and more CMA Class Information ■ Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 4:00pm ■ Optional remediation available ■ Program cost $4,500 ■ Other costs approximately $600 for books, supplies, uniforms and health requirements ■ Financial Aid is available for those who qualify ■ Must have access to a laptop/ computer and reliable internet CMA Requirements: ■ Must be 18 years or older ■ Have a high school diploma or equivalent froman accredited institution ■ Pass the Level ATABE Placement Tests with a minimum score of 10.0 ■ Have a valid government issued I.D. ■ Submit a Clinical Medical Assistant Application to the Nursing Department ■ If accepted, CAE health requirements must be completed PLEASE NOTE: Students with felony or misdemeanor convictions may have issues with placements in clinicals or externships Upcoming CMA classes ■ January 2021 If you have questions, please call Fran Quenga at 559-327-2802 or email at Thinking of a Career Change in the Medical Field?
