Please refer to our website for the following Polices and Procedures: Grading Policy, Transfer Policy, Student Conduct, Complaint/ Grievance Procedure Clovis Adult Education Refund Policy – Career Technical Education It is the intent of CUSD Clovis Adult Education (CAE) to have a fair and equitable refund policy for the refund of registration fees in the event that the class and/or program is cancelled, or the student does not plan to attend. Refunds, when due, are made within 45 days. The following procedures have been established as part of this policy: • Refund for classes or programs cancelled by CAE: If fees are collected in advance of the start date of the class and/or program, 100 percent of the fees collected will be refunded within 45 days of the planned start date of the class or program cancelled. No written notice by student is required. • Refund for student who withdraws before the first day of class: If fees are collected in advance of the start date of the class and/or program, and the student withdraws prior to the first day of class, the student will receive a full refund less a processing fee of $25.00 per class. The Refund form is generated by the department staff which includes verification of payment. • Refund for student enrolled prior to visiting the institution: Students who have not visited the Clovis Adult Education campus prior to enrollment will have the opportunity to withdraw, without penalty, within three days following attendance at the regularly scheduled orientation or following a tour of the facility and inspection of equipment. • Refund for student who withdraws after class commences: If fees have been collected, and the student withdraws on or before the second day of class, the student will receive a full refund, less a processing fee of $25 per class. • Refund for student whose circumstances fall outside of the above information: If the student feels that they should receive a refund, although their circumstances fall outside of the refund requirements, the student must submit a signed appeal letter to the CAE Principal. The student will receive a determination notice from the CAE Principal within fourteen days of receipt of the appeal letter. ACADEMIC EDUCATION Academic Education Call 559.327.2856 · Paula Espino, Department Secretary 10 QUARTER DATES ADULT BASIC EDUCATION ONLINE CURRICULUM HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA CLASSES CLASS TIMES 2nd Quarter 10/27/2025 - 1/16/2026 3rd Quarter 1/20/2026 - 3/27/2026 REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED CLASSES: ■ You must be at least 18 years old. ■ Fill out a registration form in the Academic office. ■ Upon enrollment, students are required to attend an orientation and take the TABE (placement) tests and CASAS test to determine skill level. ■ Orientations and Placement tests occur on Tuesdays. ■ There is no cost to take the placement tests. ■ If you do not show up for your scheduled tests, you will not be able to register until the next term. ■ On testing day, bring an official highschool transcript from your previous high school attended. ■ On testing day, bring a government issued photo I.D. or passport. ■ A counselor is available to meet with you to discuss credits needed and program options. ■ After 40 hours of attendance, students are required to take a post test to determine academic growth. ABE classes provide instruction in reading, writing, and math to prepare students for the high school diploma program, GED, CTE business and nursing education classes. Upon completing the course you may receive a letter grade or a Pass/Fail. Clovis Adult Education offers online instruction utilizing the Edgenuity platform. Edgenuity utilizes standards-based core curriculum and elective courses. Students must qualify to take online courses by testing at/or above a 7th grade level on the TABE placement tests. Students may take an individualized program combining traditional instruction, self-directed studies, and online classes. As of January 2016, the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is no longer a requirement for graduation. CAE offers morning, afternoon, and evening courses to fit any schedule.

ESL Classes are designed for adults who wish to improve their English language skills. There are morning and evening classes for beginning, intermediate, and advanced learners. The N 400 is explained in detail as students fill out the form in class. U.S. history and government are integrated into the discussion of the 100 questions (Civics), and in preparation for the reading and writing portions of the test. The teacher prepares a binder for each student to organize important documents to bring to their scheduled meeting with the USCIS. The teacher will also conduct a simulated interview towards the end of the semester. In addition, a visit to the local USCIS office (either in person or virtually) affords students a first hand experience of what to expect when it is time for their test. Players of all ages are falling in love with this sport. Learn the rules of the game while honing your skills. Warning: Pickleball is highly addictive! Paddles up! Please bring paddles to class. Some paddles will be available for use. No class meeting 2/7, 3/30, 4/6. PICKLEBALL - INTERMEDIATE This class is for experienced Pickleball players! Students must have already taken Beginning Pickleball, must know the rules of the game, must be able to consistently keep score and serve, and must be able to maintain at least a short rally. No class meeting 2/7. NEW PICKLEBALL - INTERMEDIATE TOURNAMENT This tournament is for intermediates only! You must know the rules and scoring and be ready for some awesome Pickleball. The tournament is just for fun, no DUPR ratings. If you do not have a partner, we will match you with one. There will be a random draw for court assignments. After playing everyone on your court (round-robin style) your team will be placed in one of two brackets. Bracket play will be single elimination. All teams are guaranteed at least four games. First and second places will be awarded from each bracket. Come join the fun at our inaugural Pickleball Tournament! TENNIS - BEGINNER Discover a great new way to get outside and exercise. Join our tennis instructor in a class devoted to learning the fundamentals involved in the game of tennis. In this six week program, you will learn the form of the many different shots and scoring system to get out on the court and navigate your way through competition. This class will emphasize the fundamentals of form with enjoyable exercise all while having a great time out on the court. No class meeting 4/1. TENNIS - EARLY INTERMEDIATE This tennis class is for those that have spent a considerable amount of time on the tennis court and are familiar with each and every shot and have knowledge of groundstrokes, volleys, overheads, serves and returns. An earlyintermediate proficiency in all of these areas is a good starting place for our class to improve our abilities in stroke production and dependability. We will start to analyze grip changes for different shots and improve our court courage and footwork techniques to gain knowledge of tactics and strategy for match play! No class meeting 4/1. SCUBA CERTIFICATION AGES 15+ Do you want to become a certified SCUBA diver? Sign up today and become an Open Water Scuba Diver. The class involves instruction on the safe and proper use of scuba equipment. The course includes classroom instruction, pool sessions where you practice dive skills, and open-water dives. Students must be at least 15 years of age and will be responsible for renting and/or purchasing all necessary scuba equipment and classroom materials for an additional expense of approximately $950. Students are also responsible for all travel and instructional expenses based on where open-water dives are conducted.
