Our class will focus on imaginative drawing as you uncover your imagination and creativity. Many people say that they cannot draw or they are not creative, however, we all embody these innate traits and with a willingness to embrace them, we can experience uninhibited creative fun. Our instructor will guide you through the process with his collective experience of over 35 years as a professional artist, graphic designer, illustrator, and educator. No class meeting 4/1. NEW ORIGAMI- THE AGE-OLD ART OF FOLDING PAPER Have you ever wanted to learn how to make things out of paper? Well, here is your chance. Come learn how to make a piece of paper into something amazing. Origami is the age-old art of folding paper. In this one-night class you will learn how to make the famous Japanese Crane “Orizuru”, money butterflies and more. We will also learn the history of Origami. If you have any questions, please contact the instructor at loveteaching@yahoo.com. Please bring the $12 material fee the first day of class. Class is held at Cheryl’s Learning Center, 2027 N. Gateway #107, Fresno CA 93727. POTTERY Do you aspire to be a potter? We will be working either on the potter’s wheel or using hand-build methods to create. These methods will include pinching, coiling, and slab form techniques. Students will create functional and nonfunctional pottery, using stoneware and porcelain clays. The firing will be done using the electric and gas kilns. Glazing will be done twice during the class. The glazing will be completed using the dipping, pouring, and brushing techniques with stoneware glazes. Fred Figueroa taught ceramics in the Clovis Unified School District for forty-two years in the art department at the high school and middle school level, before retiring in 2014. The first night of class a supply list will be distributed, and we will begin creating your wonderful works of art. No class meeting 3/31. ARTFUL CARDS Enjoy taking time to create cards with hand-made artwork to give to friends and family. We will be using various media with which to adorn our “artful cards”. Different card project prompts will be inspired by specific art techniques, particular subject matter, or an art style or artwork. We will be drawing, painting, and/or collaging on pre-made blank cards or postcards (usually these are made from watercolor paper or mixed-media paper). Each card “activity” will also be time for you to have fun with the process of making a “mini-artwork” for the day! All experience levels are welcome, including beginners. Students will supply their own materials - a list will be provided. No class meeting 1/19, 2/9, 2/16, 3/30, 4/6.
