Students will gain an overview of the industry, the operating principles of automobiles, and the function of their basic components. Instruction includes general maintenance procedures, inspections, servicing, and basic troubleshooting. Students will also explore career paths and opportunities for further education through connections with industry mentors and field trips to local businesses. Integrated throughout the curriculum are essential career preparation standards, including communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving, safety, and technology. As part of the program, students will also complete CareerSafe’s OSHA training, an OSHA-authorized online course that provides workplace safety instruction.
