Become a Loan Signing Agent

Notaries Public can make extra money as a Loan Signing Agent.  No experience necessary!  Lenders and title companies rely on loan signing agents to notarize and obtain signatures for real estate loan documents.

If you have already taken the notary public course, take this course now and be ready to go once you get your notary commission.  Agents generally make $75-150 per loan singing.  Work only when you are available – no time commitment required and no experience is necessary!

Additional costs for added insurance, supplies, and background check will be explained at the class.  Bring a legal form of ID and a $40 materials fee (includes course book, sample binder documents, examination and certification) payable to CA Notary Training Center by cash or personal check.

Veterans Day 2017

Veterans Day 2017

The Community Ed office and the entire Clovis Adult Education campus will be closed and no classes held on Friday, November 10, 2017 in honor of the Veterans Day Holiday.

According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Day is set aside to honor all those who served honorably in the military, whether in war or peace.  We are grateful to our military personnel past and present for the sacrifices they make to secure our freedom.  Thank you to all our students who are Veterans – your service is much appreciated!

We hope you all enjoy the day off, and take time to thank a Veteran!

Part of our Older Adult program for students 50 and up, Acrylic Painting with Belinda Tomlinson is a fabulous class that meets Tuesdays from 1:00-4:00pm, cost is $55 – new classes begin 10/24-12/12.

Intro to Digital Photography

Digital Photography – An Introduction

Do you own a digital camera, and want to learn what those dials and buttons do?  This class is for those who own a point & shoot, mirrorless, or entry DSLR camera.  The course covers some of the controls of the camera, allowing the photographer to be a little more creative with their pictures.  Students will learn how to organize their pictures on their computer, and share their photos with others. Basic computer skills are highly recommended.  Bring a SUB flash drive to class to save your work.  Class will meet at Dry Creek Park on one Saturday during the class.

Couch to 5K!

Couch to 5K Running Class

Summer may have come to a close, but summer bodies are made in the winter, and with our great fall weather, now is a great time to learn to RUN!  Running is a great way to stay in shape.  Couch to 5k is a great program to start your running lifestyle. together we will start slow and work our way up to running a 5k (3.1 miles).  You will learn stretches and how to run at your own pace!  Put on your running shoes and let’s get started!

Christmas Crochet – Intermediate

This class will be featuring Christmas projects – tree ornaments, decorations, stockings and gift ideas!  The only prerequisite is a knowledge and proficiency of basic crochet stitches.

The following materials should be brought to the first class:

  • G and H hooks
  • 1 skein each of Christmas red, green and white #4 yarn (worsted weight, all the same brand and type of yarn)

Learn to Sew!

Beginning Sewing

Are you interested in sewing but not sure where to start?  Does the thought of using a sewing machine seem daunting?  This class is great for the absolute beginner!  We will cover all the basics you ned to get started, from setting up machine to learning basic sewing techniques, and we will complere 4-5 different projects.

Students will learn the following techniques:

  • Straight, French and encased seams
  • Turning/pivoting corners
  • Box corners
  • Hemming,
  • Creating handles
  • Casing/gathering

The instructor has been sewing for 20+ years and is a 3rd generation seamstress!

Students will need to provide their own sewing machine and materials.  The first night of class is discussion only – you will not need to bring your machine.  Materials list will be covered that first night.

Hula!

Hula Dancing!

Have you ever been to Hawaii and seen those amazing dancers on stage at luau?  Do you ever wonder how they manage to move their hands and hips so gracefully?  There is a long and rich history in the world of hula.  This beautiful dance has existed for a long time and dancers move to the beat of traditional Hawaiian music, and sometimes singing.  In this class you’ll learn basic hula steps and how to move your hips with the fluid motion of a dancer.  By the end of the class you’ll know how to move your hips like a hula dancer.  The instructor has been dancing since 2005 and is excited to introduce this culture with you.

Class meets Thursdays 10/26-12/7 from 6:00-7:00pm (no class meeting 11/23), at Woods Elementary, located at 700 Teague Ave (Teague & Clovis).

Pottery

Do you aspire to be a potter?  We will be working either on the potter’s wheel or using hand-build methods to create.  These methods will include pinching, coiling and slab form techniques.  Students will create functional and non-functional pottery using stoneware and porcelain clays.  The firing will be done using the electric and gas kilns.  Glazing will be done twice during the six weeks.  The glazing will be completed using the dipping, pouring and brushing techniques with stoneware glazes.

Fred Figueroa taught ceramics in the Clovis Unified School District for 42 years in the art department at the high school and middle school levels before retiring in 2014.  Now he’s back to share his expertise and love of creating pottery with YOU!

A supply list will be distributed the first night of class, and we will begin creating your wonderful works of art.

From Halloween to Thanksgiving, fall to winter, Pinterest and DIY sites are trending double-sided holiday décor.  Whether using wooden pallets, old fence boards, frames  or wooden blocks, there are many ways to be creative and budget-friendly with your holiday décor.  Grab a friend and have a fun night being creative and crafting!

This on-night only class is Thursday, 10/12 from 6:00-9:00pm.  Students must pre-register by 10/6!  Registered students will receive a list of class supplies by email prior to class.
